About

I grew up in Bridlington, a tourist town on the beautiful East Yorkshire Coast. My Grandma taught me to knit before I started school, but I was introduced to Gansey knitting many years later when my Dad asked me to knit him a Flamborough Gansey. My parents had moved to Flamborough from Bridlington and as a former Lifeboat crew member, Dad had been interested in having one of these garments. I learned from a friend in the village and have had a Gansey on the needles ever since.

I turned my passion for knitting into my career in 2005, re-inventing my Blackpool hotel into the country’s first Knitting Hotel – the ‘Westcliffe’. I teach Gansey knitting workshops at the hotel and guests are easily inspired by this fascinating craft.
